I got my new SKS from MilArm and I gave it a good cleaning. I am trying to get my trigger assembly back in and its not moving. I did some reading and I saw that the magazine has to be nice and far foward and latched in, and I am pretty sure that it is in the right spot. I just can't for the life of my get that pin to hook around the trigger block.

Any suggestions?

NVM I got it.

Put the gun upside down, lying on the receiver and then pushed the trigger assem till it was flush with the stock. Then I jumped up and pushed down really hard and it went.

yay me

slamming the trigger guard with my right palm works for me.:D

Yeah, if there is one thing I have learned with the SKS is you can't be too worried about being rough with them. Infact, I believe they work better if you "man handle" them around a bit.

ya well my palm hurt after the first 20 minutes of trying. took a little samwich break, came back, posted this thread then did it and it worked fine.

I had one that was hard to get back together the first few times. I put it upside down receiver rails on a 2x4, positioned the trigger group properly, then wacked the back of the trigger guard with a rubber mallet. No es problemo!

Yeah, like someone else said here, make sure hte saftey is folded in the on position. If it went back in with the safty off, you just bent that.

I like many had the same problem - I found that the trigger assembly must be fully forward (mine like to hang back about 1 mm) and then push in the trigger release and push down as hard as possibly can - the edge of the trigger assembly release button will eventually catch the edge of the assembly plate then I had to take something flat and metal ( I used wide mouthed pliers held vertically in oder to get the leverage I needed (not to mention save my hands) in oder to seat it back in completely. I think that part of the problem lies in the stiffness of the spring underneath the trigger assembly plate.

Curtton's got it. Use the heel of your right hand to smack it home. It's not easy, especially the first few times. Cowboy-up and beat that SKS till it all fits together.

i figured that is what the designer of the SKS intended for a commie soldier not to use any tools to put it back together so no clamps or mallet , just his palm , once he lines up the trigger guard over the spring lock, he holds it steady with his left hand and he either smack it home or push firmly on the trigger guard with his right. waalaaa ,its in.:D
