Hey Guys,

Had some work done on my VZ58 and the gunsmith tightened the 6 position adjustable stock on the gun and it's off-centre. It's tight as f#ck and I can't loosen it using just my hands. So how do I loosen the castle nut so I can re-adjust it so the stock is straight, and then re-tighten it? I have an AR-15 wrench but the tube/nut is too large. The wrench obviously doesn't fit.

Thanks for your help.

Since I was getting rid of the stock adapter in favor of a folder, I used a screw driver and hammer to loosen it. It basically wrecked the castle nut but it worked. Or you could take it back to the gunsmith to have it readjusted since it appears you are using it lol.

He's too far away. And I don't want to ruin the castle nut because I still need it.

I had the ncstar wrench and filed it down in about 5min. That was enough to remove the PITA nut.

Be careful with the Vz.58 castle nut, those things are made out of rice paper it seems. When I removed mine I caused quite a bit of damage not applying a lot of force to remove it. I ended up buying another castle nut made of steel.

I mentioned that to some guy at CSA and he did acknowledge that the Vz's castle nut wasn't particularly good.

Where do I get another castle nut?
