Can't take the 870 barrel out

I have a Remington 870 Express Magnum (7 shot magazine). Tried to disassemble it, but can't take the barrel out. Is there any trick I should know?

Did you #### teh slide back halfway after removing teh mag extension?

Pull the slide back, but not all the way. You want it to be about halfway back. Mine stops at a first 'detent', ie. the slide moves back really easily, then there's a point where you need to apply a little more pressure to get it back all the way. This is exactly where the slide needs to be to remove the barrel, and it should come off very easily with no resistance. If there's any resistance, move the slide a bit forward or back.

Obviously you will need to unscrew the magazine extension before this is possible.

If it's a Rermington factory extension, they are 2 piece - the extension and the nut.
