I thought I'd send our applications to Miramichi via Fedex. Got to the office and was told that they don't deliver to a post office box :( darn!

Oh well, off to the post office and sent them registered, three working days to get to New Brunswick from B.C.

Now comes the long wait :)

Double registered...cost me 12 dollars...took exactly 9 days. Don't hold your breath.

you might has well have saved your money and sent it regular post- there's a certain amount of MANDITORY ( i beleive it's 28) days that you HAVE to wait before being processed, unless you're already in the system- longer in most cases- unless you're paranoid about it not getting there at all

Send it Canada Post XpressPost optionally with the included no-charge signature. Typically guaranteed to get there in 2 days or less from anywhere in Canada (except weekends and holidays). Includes On-time Delivery Guarantee and Tracking and Delivery Confirmation. Since it includes delivery confirmation, you technically don't need signature, and you can check the results of either online at the Canada Post website.
I printed out my Canada Post online results to keep for proof that they received it. Only cost me $16.70 at the time to XpressPost it.

Back when I took my envelope into the local post office branch, the nice lady behind the counter already knew the destination address by heart, and already knew the best way to send it (mentioned above).

And the 28 days waiting period starts when they receive it, NOT when you mail it.

I sent all mine Purolator to PO Box 1200, Miramichi, NB...never had a problem

Mailed 29 Mar White Rock, BC received 05 Apr Miramichi, NB

Regular mail. Figure that one out. Took the CFC 4 weeks to update the online status and that's what it said. Probably just randomly selected a received date hahah anyways good luck and make sure you follow the "shorten pal wait times" sticky

The 28 days is also concurrent with other activities such as background checks, application processing etc. it's NOT wait everything approved, references called passed etc then wait 28 days. Although no applicant will see a licence in no less than 28 days

I know it will take a while- our instructor said it takes approx. six to eight weeks so ? it is what it is. Probably a good thing, my wife wants me to complete building the deck in the back yard, and if I had the licence I'd probably spend weekends at the range :D

Sent mine Monday June 18th via Xpresspost with signature. Status as of 3:14pm today is "out for delivery" but thats all. So clearly it didn't make it to a person today.

took me exactly 7 weeks from dropping it regular mail to card in hand. if you keep on top of it get the references to call in as soon as allowed.

So as soon as it shows up on-line, call in for your interview? then your references after that?

My PAL took almost exactly 90 days from received to issued.
BC CFO held it up for weeks. 6 calls total.
PALs without Restricted you typically do not get an interview.

Just an FYI... 'registered' is more secure and leaves a more solid tracking trail, but it can also take longer because it has to be scanned in more often along the route. Sending with an Expresspost envelope gets you there faster with just a bit less detailed tracking.

For me, I wasn't concerned with shaving off a day. I sent registered from BC and it still got there plenty fast.

I'm in BC and the time between mailing it out registered mail and their receiving it back East was about the same... 6 days or so, and registered mail is typically slower. Think I sent it March 27 and they received it April 3. Mine was processed & issued in pretty much exactly 28 days, then mailed out to me promptly.
