First of all, I passed PAL test recently! Yeah!

Second of all, it is so sad to find that shotgun is only ok for deer and black bear in BC.

I am wondering, is there anyway to make shot gun ok for hunting elk, moose and grizzly bear? Such as using slug.

Just want to confirm that if shotgun is only ok for deer and black bear in big game.

Must be 20 gauge or larger and No 1 Buck Buck or larger (this would include slugs). Black bear, deer, bobcat, cougar, lynx wolf and wolverine are the only big game. See page 16 of BC Hunting Synopsis:
http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hunting/regulations/

Use of shotgun in big game is really limited I think. But for the magzine limit, you can load more than 2 if you use slugs and for big games only I think. Am I right?

I know we have to read and understand BC Hunting Synopsis. It's just painful. This Synopsis is just like other ones, NOT user friendly. I know it is written this way to explain rules better. But when I want to find something like: I want to use shotgun to hunt the black bear and deers where close to Vancouver, where should I go? what is the special rules and gun use limit there? where can I shoot(not animal) to pratice?
All of these informations are hidden in this huge Synopsis, you cannot find your answer until you finish the whole thing, which is painful and f#%$ stupid.

Just read the 1st couple pages, and the section for your area only. no need to read it all. I even print off my area's regs for my own reference. its only like 5 pages. As far as finding places to shoot, grab a copy of BC Backroads Mapbook, find a place on a logging road, outside any parks, and outside any limits imposed on the hunting synopsis, and outside city limits. It tok me a while to finally find a place to call my own. ;)

Take the CORE and it will all be abundantly clear on what one can and can not hunt with (legally).
Just because you have passed one step in the process does not mean you can go and blast away at
game animals.
Best Regards.

You will need to take the CORE course to get your BC Hunter's Card and to be able to buy a BC Hunting license... it will answer all your questions...

First of all passing your pal has nothing to do with hunting second of all if u can't take the time to read the regulations we don't want u in the field carrying a gun third buy a rifle and hunt accordingly . Get with the program

I know and I managed and paid already for the CORE. Going to the class and learn from the class is one thing. I am talking about the user unfriendly of the Synopsis! Just like I said, government doesn't make it user friendly nor making an extra user friendly one.

Like I said, all of these informations are hidden in this huge Synopsis, you cannot find your answer until you finish the whole thing.

I will agree the synopsis could be improved. It's got some good information in it and it lacks some information and it has some misleading information in it.

You'll realize how silly your complaints are after you complete the CORE course. The synopsis is a database of information and it works hand in hand with your CORE. A portion of the CORE is spent on making sure you understand how to reference the regulations (which includes passing over stuff that does not apply to your situation or region). You have to pass the CORE. So your sum of knowledge is based upon the course AND the regs.

Wow, how to sh!t on the new guy while he is still learning and enthusiastic. Walking in the bush, target shooting and even hunting have little to do with understanding byzantine government regulations, which is about all the hunter safety courses are good for. Ours didn't even bother explaining how to read the regs and work through the draw booklet. Do you complain about archery hunters as well? Just because someone wants to hunt using different equipment and methods than you do is no reason to crap all over them. At least the rest of the answers politely told OP where to look for assistance and what he needs next. Sheesh.

Trying to understand your post is also not user friendly
