Canted front sight No.4 Mk.1

Yeah I am starting to feel that way. I would want to find another LE No.4 Mk.1 Asap though.

Their website says that they take returns for full refunds no questions asked within 15 days. It arrived 12 days ago, who thinks I should return it and look for something else?

It's your decision how to proceed, but I know I'd be pissed having to spend a bunch of money getting a rifle in shooting shape having spent market value for a shooter.

There's also a difference between what the site says, and how the business actually operates. Hate to say that...

What year is the long branch and how much did you pay for it?

It’s a 44 Maltby, but I think it’s Mixmaster and I paid 795$. Frustrating too becuase in the 12 days I have had it some nice rifles have come and gone on the EE. Right now there aren’t many posted either.

If you do decide to send her back to whence she came, maybe send Martin at Corwin Arms an email - he may not have any No.4s in the pipeline, but he does seem to get lots of SMLEs, if they'd be of any interest?

No need to rush into buying a replacement either, sometimes it's best to be able to get your hands on her and see if everything is shipshape.

None of the 5 Lee Enfield's that I just checked have the ejector slot "flush" with the bottom in the receiver opening, but all are a lot smaller than I see in your picture - and I agree, perspective via pictures can be deceiving me. See the earlier post in this thread - you need a proper action wrench and a proper barrel vice, both specifically for a Lee Enfield No. 4, to turn your barrel a couple degrees - that barrel has 14 threads per inch, so .071" per full turn - 3 degrees would be .008 of a turn, so that would change headspace .0006" - i.e. negligible. Without looking up the spec, I believe the barrel was to be hand tight up to 11:50 or so and then big boys with a snipe brought it up to the alignment mark...

I might send it back, I have a problem with settling for something I am not %100 happy with when spending that kind of money. There is a Savage in the EE I am interested in, but yeah rushing probably isnt a good idea either.

Send it back and save yourself the aggravation.
No matter how much you tinker with the gun you'll always find more wrong than right. You can definitely do better and get an original example . As for the EE, there have been a few very nice guns pass through recently. It seems to be feast or famine when you look for specific examples so patience is a virtue.

They said they will take it back though grilled me on how to pack it and said they will charge me for any damage.... will be sending it back and waiting for something to pop up that I am interested in.
