well i went into can tire in KAnata tonight to pick up the final color for my stock refinish and noticed they had a good price on 300 win mag figured i would pick up a box.
WELL the girl working the ammo counter *not to hard on the eyes * opened the the ammo cabinet pulled the book out and the ammo i wanted.
she then asked me for my PAL, which i provided*expecting the thoird degree in questiuons* she wrote the number down*PAL*, my name, the ammo and quantity. closed the bopok and re locked it back up.
i am speechless, at this point given Kanata is the urbanite/yuppie central of ottawa,Ont, i would have expected the usual cantire speil wanting my name addyress phone# date of birth d/l number and first born but no i got a very civil normal ammo purchase. and i didnt even have to point to the box i wanted just said 300 win mag federals *me thinks she had some knowladge of ammo at least*.
man now i know where to buy ammo from when i dont feel like getting jerked by le barons

Haha, I have to ask the guys here at Wal-mart to check for my PAL. I go to CT to buy ammo so often that the staff all know me by name. They don't ask for my PAL anymore either. Finding someone to open the damn cabinet is a different story...

I have never been "harassed" when buying ammo, either at Wally mart or crappy tire. They always ask for my licence, but never the 5th degree. They have never written anything down either, just checked to make sure I can legally buy ammo.

Why does that seem to be the weak link at Can-Tire stores everywhere. I usually walk around looking for someone to open the ammo cabinet, the first employee I find I ask. Oh, thats not my department......well your the first employee I found, sucks that your all the way across the store. I spend more time tracking down someone with ammo cabinet keys than anything else, sometimes the local gunstore is well worth it, there's always someone behind the counter that wants to help you!

I stopped in CT last weekend to get some camp fuel before heading out to the mountains. I noticed they had one box left of 32 Special, so I grabbed the person that was in sporting goods and then we proceeded to the front counter. The cashier starts chatting me up(very chatty). She said the price and I never paid any attention to what she said and proceeded to pay with my bank card.

When I got out to the truck I looked at the reciept and noticed that she only charged me $4 for an air freshener that I never even bought :D My lucky day! A $20 box of ammo and $10 worth of camp fuel all for a measly $4 :dancingbanana:

Walmart in Pembroke took a turn for the better lately.

I went to buy some boxes of slugs there and only needed to show my PAL. I asked the girl behind the counter WTF? She told me that she brought it up with the manager and told him it's BS to have to show more ID and to fill-out their catalogue of firearm owners. I'm impressed.

Here's my trick for getting someone to open the case at Walmart: Just go around the counter.

Crazy Davey,
Last summer I had the chance to walk out of store with a $700 lawn mower for 3 bucks, due to an entry error at the till. I didn't do it, and my ten year old boy got a lesson in honesty. I got a thank-you.

I think the mat is pressure sensitive,so when you step on it they get called to check who stepped over the line.I bought some .22 dynapoints when they had them in stock, went to show her my Pal licence and she got mad at me saying she didn't need to see that stupid thing.:)

its ontario LAW

the stores HAVE to write you name addy cal and amount of ammo

it was to stop gangstres from getting ammo

we all know you can smuggle guns into canada but customs ALLWAYS gets every single round of smuggled ammo

so this ontario law will make guns usless to criminals as they wont have ammo.......:runaway:

This is slightly offtopic but the CT in Kanata is owned by an #######. I worked there for 3.5 years during highschool and the idiocy of that store never ceased to amaze me. I will drive all the way to Bells Corners to buy a $0.30 grease fitting just to avoid going to the one in Kanata.

Also, they hire attractive girls for a reason, it's nothing new ;)

That was good of you.

That CT ####ed my wife over royaly when I was out of town and couldnt do anything about it, so I hardly feel bad about it :)

Can Tire WOW

I usually pick up the phone, dial '0' and ask for service when I need ammo at CAN Tire. Didn't know some CAN TIRE asked for more than PAL. That's BS.
I wonder what kind of stats they have on you with this kind of data. This country looks like it's turning communist.

I went to the one on Hunt Club, asked if the had any 9mm Luger and was told that they do not carry luger brand... and this from a shift supervisor.

I could care less. It's when the ####ing book is lying around out in the open that pisses me off. I called th DOJ (they handle privacy and Information Act stuff) and the folks there I talked to said if they are doing that they can be severly fined, and even closed.

She advised me to take a picture of any infraction and send it in.

I haven't been to a CT since till yesterday. The log is now locked up, but I look at every one I am at now...Wally mart, Le Barons etc...
