Canuck and Imperial 12ga ammo

I seen the sticky in the Ammo EE saying that selling IVI ammo was prohibited.

Just wondering why its prohibited?

Is Canuck and Imperial branded 12 ga ammo prohibited as well? (the boxes also say IVI on them)

Selling milsurp IVI ammo is illegal as it's stolen. The CF hasn't released any milsurp ammo(or anything else) for sale to civilians for eons.
IVI commercial ammo is fine. Isn't just shotgun ammo. Don't think it's available any more though. Not since the Socialist F**ks decided to sell IVI to foreign owners.

Thanks Sunray. I had been wondering about that for a while. I hadn't seen imperial shells in the stores for years but just recently I see it for sale again at the local Canadian Tire.

Imperial and Canuck branded shotgun shells were produced for the civilian market and are fine to buy/sell. The prohibition is only for CF issue IVI 5.56mm which hasn't been surplused in ages and could possibly be stolen.

I think CT has resurrected the old Canuck brand as its new house brand of economy shotgun shells.

If you are stickler, selling any ammo not approved is illegal. the old CIL is not on the approved list.
