Guys,
I am looking at the good qualities and the short-comings of the Canuck FD12

As I understand, this is a Turkish made gun. Hummm is that a positive or a negative?
Would you consider this a quality gun or not?

Do you think that this semi will fire and eject without fault, the Lightfield brand less-than-lethal animal control rounds?

I shoot left, and this gun is available in left hand configuration, and is one of the reasons why I am considering it. I dont know if there are any other left hand bullpup shotguns available to us here.

Alternatively, I am thinking about a Super Nova Tactical pump.

Anyway, please chime in about your experiences regarding ergonomic fit, function, faults and qualities, and perhaps which bullpup 12 gauge guns to steer clear of.

Thank you.

I know good one's exist, but as far as the internet is concerned, all Turkish auto shotguns are sh1t, and 85% of the pumps are too.

The Huntgroup FD12 with serial numbers starting with OD have been very reliable once broken in. I will be shooting with 3 of them tomorrow in a Two Gun shoot. My wife’s cycles target loads reliably after a break in of 200 rounds of heavier shot.
The OD prefix on the serial number means it was inspected in Turkey by an employee of O’Dell, the importer and they stand by the warranty with no hassle

I have one of the original ones with aluminium lower, it’s been reliable but I don’t consider these much more than toys. I would not use one as an animal deterrent. The pump or a more reliable semi would be a better choice.

Heres my experience with turkish guns. Had a revolution armory r4. First one I got jammed about once every tube and was missing the detent to tighten the mag cap so I sent it back for a replacement. The replacement couldnt get through 2 shells without a jam and the gas cylinder plug threads came completly stripped out. I got a new barrel assembly from warranty and got rid of the pos. Mind you it still jammed with the new barrel.

Why, why, why, would any company build and then market such garbage?

Ya, here in NA, we most always choose the cheapest option of any item that we buy. Look no further than princess auto and canadian tire for a plethora of chincom garbage spoon fed to us with almost zero alternative options.
Perhaps there are enough of these people to fund their enterprise and keep the exporting /importing going.

Back in the day, or perhaps more accurately back decades ago.......when Eatons of Canada, or Simpson Sears imported firearms and put their name on the product, one knew, that it would go bang, every time. One of my rifles sold by Eatons of Canada was made by Sako. And.....it goes bang every time!

Grrrr. The garbage that abounds us and surrounds us is so very North American, in this era.

As mentioned, I passed on any and all turkish shotguns, and got a Benelli supernova tactical pump. I know, it will go bang every time.

Plenty of crappy guns have been made in North America too, especially semis from the period you're referring to.

To each his own, shot with 3 FD-12’s on the weekend, every one of them was flawless and one of them won the competition. Personally I prefer a Mossberg pump, but to label all Turkish guns as garbage is a bit of a stretch. Is Benelli not owned by Beretta? Doesn’t Beretta own a couple of Turkish manufacturers? Hmmmmm

Good question.
Good fodder for discussion.

Yeah, when I make my mind up to steer clear of garbage, I do, willingly include the entire gamut of items sold by that country or importer.
Just like chincom garbage. When shopping for any item/s that must measure up to my personal bar.......I avoid all chincom junk, period.
But that is just me.......

" Is Benelli not owned by Beretta? Doesn’t Beretta own a couple of Turkish manufacturers? " Anyone have anything to add to this?
