Having some trouble with various full power loads.

Gun fires, extracts fine but often the bolt locks back with shells still in the tube. They never pop onto the lifter.

If I manually hit the action release it seems to scoop it up.

Is this a shell stop issue?

(This is a Turkish M4 clone)

Some added info:
When I got home I tested function with snap caps and it seems like the shells are dropping onto the gate as they should. But they didn't seem to be earlier during live fire.

Took everything apart to clean and lube. Nothing stood out as looking suspicious.

After some poking around, think it may be shell surge from a weak mag spring.

Mag spring only extends about 6" beyond the tubes, seems like too little for adequate tension.

Also explains why it only showed up today with full power loads after working well with lowish power (3 and 3-1/4 dram birdshot loads). Going to get a better spring in there.

Just replaced spring and follower with one of the SJ models. Dropping shell onto lifter looks sharp even on last shell (testing with dummies). Will test this weekend to find out.

Which S&J follower (and spring?) did you go with? And how has it been for you?

I was looking at their followers with the hole in the center so you can verify status in the tube.

What capacity are you getting with 2.75" shells with the new follower setup in there? I seem to be just shy of fitting 6 of the 2.75 in mine from the factory.
