Canuck Spectre Semi-Auto Bullpup

Also interested in finding out about this, but not much info on it.

It is however being imported into the US under the name MKA 1923 - here is a review from American rifleman on this shotgun:

In a nutshell, very compact and maneuverable, cycles well with most loads except very light target loads. The downside is it apparently is quite difficult to take apart, and it requires the changing of gas rings to cycle different power loads.

I have one. Not field strippable since it requires tools - but it only needs an allen key and I used a small spanner on the retaining pins since they were on tight. Bot not hard to take apart or put back together. Easier than a 10/22. Mine had a moderate amount of oil, no slime or cosmo. The case is on the higher end for a "free" case - but won't work if you have a scope fixed.

Mags swap out easily and are solid when they are engaged. Trigger feels smooth for a bullpup - breaks like a carrot. Can flip the safety to fire with shooting hand but need other hand to flip to safe - I would have preferred a sweep type safety like and AR. Took my aimpoint on the rail no problem. Takes mobil chokes. I threaded all of them in and out smoothly. Came with 3 chokes. Bore is great - no chatter or filings in there.

Feels solid. Apparently will cycle both heavy and light with the light ring. I have not fired it yet. I will let you know this weekend.

So i bought one of these as a packaged deal with an RDB from FOC on black Friday and I'm pretty happy with it overall. The first time out with the light gas ring installed (rated for 1300 fps and under) I fired 50 rounds of max dr 1290fps birdshot with no stoppages. Second time out with the heavy gas ring installed I shot a box of buckshot and had one stove-pipe. 20 slugs and some more birdshot ran through just fine. One issue I was having sometimes was the last round not being picked up by the bolt. Racking the handle back would sometimes pick it up or it would slide over and you'd have to give the magazine a bump. I wish these things fed the uzkon AS46 mags. The take-down is pretty painless for a semi auto shotgun i think. I haven't handled the FD12 but I would imagine with aluminium lower feels nicer than the polymer on the spectre. If i had to pay full price, I probably would have gotten the FD12 for that reason. I don't think I would pay 899 for the spectre but maybe 750$ would be a better price imo. One nice thing about the polymer though is it doesn't freeze in this cold weather.
