Cap gun? Really?

I'm trying to end a debate in a non-gun forum as to what this piece is. One person is claiming it's a "cap gun". I've never owned one, but I find it a little odd that a slide on a cap gun would actually work, unless that's how you load the thing. I know there are BB and pellet pistols that simulate a blowback action, but what is this thing???

Dunno if they make one in a glock style, but shell ejecting cap guns do exist

Can't say I've ever seen a Glock blank firing replica pistol, but not to say they aren't made. The tray of ammo below does look similar to the Fiocchi 9mm PAK ammo. I can't read the roll stamp on the slide.

Glock 17 AUSTRIA 9x19

IF it's fake then I'd say airsoft. But going by the powder marks at the front of the frame I'd say it's real.

I also noticed the powder near the muzzle on the frame. It look like gen 1 or 2 as there are no rail. Only the rear sight seem larger over a regular glock sight.

Could be this. Looks pretty realistic...

Thats why I said, could be airsoft. But the powder burns on the gun lead more to real than fake.

I think there might be a rail, just hard to make out in the picture.

As for the rear sight it's an adjustable one.

It does, but I couldn't tell from the description whether or not it actually fires anything at all.

So the general consensus seems to be that it's actually a real Glock 17. One other thing that I gleaned from the photo was that it did appear to be taken in a range's shooting station, which adds another point to the argument of it being the real deal.

I think asking the owner of this so-called cap gun what it says on the gun as to who makes it could end your debate. IE: if it says Hasbro or Tonka lol, ect. If he can't then it is what most of us think it is...........9mm Glock.

It's pretty hard to tell from the pic but I have seen a blank firing G17 replica. I believe that it was made or imported from Israel and was a very accurate copy. It had the Glock markings a detachable mag. and the weight a feel of the thing was very authentic. The only way to be sure was to look at the mags and field strip the pistol and examine the barrel. The construction was far superior to any airsoft pistols I have seen and I wondered at the time whether it might function if a real barrel was inserted into the slide.
I'm not sure why anyone would want it but I remember thinking that it was such an accurate reproduction that even at very close distances there was no way to tell it wasn't "real" and if produced in the wrong circumstances could easily get you shot.

its a blank pistol. there is all kinds of blow back blank guns out there. i think canadaammo sells some of them.

I'm not sure what it is but if he pointed it at me he'd get 2 to the chest and 1 to the head....

That being said, I've had the opportunity to work on a few movie shoots, I've seen everything! Cap guns, Gas (propane/butane) operated guns, blanks, electric. It could be anything.

That is the justification used by our politicians and police for banning "replica guns". IMO, if you are so stupid as to pull a fake gun on a cop, you deserve to get shot. We don't need those genes in the pool, it is too shallow already.
