Now that we're set up back in Newfoundland and into the house, etc, It's time to sort out the dog situation. I'm on the lookout for a beagle for the rabbits, but I also want a duck dog, but not a Lab. I think we've decided on a Cape Shore water dog.
Wondering if anyone here has one or knows someone with one, and if so, do you have any thoughts to share about them? Sources, breeder advice, what to look for/ask. I believe they are well known for their swimming/retreiving in any conditions, but I'm wondering how they work as pets as well.
I want to head down to St. Brides or Placentia and find one, but I've heard some things about having them as pets that I'd like to clear up first. This dog will realistically be around the house more than it will be swimming in the ocean (though I could always use another reason to fish in Quidi Vidi).
