Hi guys!

I live in the downtown area of Toronto, and I don't drive.

I was wondering how many of you new RPAL holders would be interested car pooling to the Silverdale Gun Club. It's a way to split the gasoline cost and meet like minded shooters.

There are a couple of activities the Silverdale Gun club require: 1) new members attend range orientation on a Friday or Saturday at 11AM; and 2) CLUB LEVEL ATT COURSE ($80) to bring your own handgun(s) to the Silverdale range, which is held usually in the evenings.

I may be wrong but last I recalled, an ATT only allows for direct transport between the storage site and the range.
Unless you're meeting at their residence or the other person isn't bringing any restricteds, there's no easy way to do it...

Yeah, because of the direct transport rule, I imagine you'd have to 'gun pool' as well. Might be worth asking the CFO about this, though. The law says that the route has to be "reasonably" direct.

When we did our CFSC, we specifically asked that question and our instructor told us that it's a very common myth. I specifically asked the question about carpooling with a friend and he said that doing so would be acceptable. But it has to make sense to a certain extend. For example, he said that the CFO probably wouldn't like it if I lived in Burlington and picked up a friend from Toronto, and then drove to Silverdale. However, if a friend was driving from Toronto, picked me up in Burlington, and we both carpooled together to Silverdale, it wouldn't be a problem.

However, he could have been wrong.

I don't see it to be unreasonable to pick someone up. Not being allowed to pick someone up. Makes it difficult to get people out to shoot.

Carpooling in ontario is encouraged! If not. There wouldn't be commuter Lanes lol

the sign says "carpool lane", not "carpool with guns lane". Lol..

joking aside, I think Fobwall is correct. the rule says "reasonable direct route", not strict direct line. it's perfectly fine to stop for food/drink even stay overnight at friend's place or hotel if it's a long commute on the way to the shooting location because it could easily happen to competition shooters when they are travel all over the place.

Read your goddamn att.

It says "a route that in all circumstances is reasonably direct".

Does anyone really think that NOBODY drives over to a friends house to pick them up to go shoot?
