Carbine H3 buffers

The RRA 9mm weighs the same as an H3 pretty much...5.5oz. I don't think they have any others in stock. Brownells is another option.....
 
I have a bunch of Colt ones, but you probably don't need them. They are only used on Mk18 uppers(10.3"barrel). "H3 may be needed for an extreme case, or when the gas port is eroded but the barrel still groups."

If I may add my thoughts.

I would suggest you give Wolverine a call.

The 3H buffer is used with the proprietary length Armalite AR-10 carbine buffer tube, and as a result they may have some in stock.

Hitzy is correct. According to my reference material carbine buffer weights are as follows:

3H = 5.4 onz

RRA 9mm buffer = 5.6 onz

Colt 9mm buffer = 5.5 onz

I just finished building and testing a 7.5" PDW carbine for a good friend of mine. I went with a 3H buffer, and we were very pleased with the results.

I have built more than one 10.5" carbine, and it has been my experience that 2H carbine buffer, inside a mil-spec buffer tube will work very well, and give smooth constant cycling.

You mileage may vary.

AB thanks, so how do you think the Spikes tactical ST-T2 buffer inside a milspec tube would work with the 10.5" NEA barrel? I'm just looking at th package on Questar, my extension and castle nut were painted FDE and with the standard buffer installed now, I was considering doing the whole rear end.

My DD MK18 has an H marked buffer factory and runs flawlessly.

One thing to note, Jamie may well have greater experience (read more rounds down range) than I, he knows what he's talking about so you may whish to head his advice as well!!

I have just started to work with the 3H buffer in AR-15's and myself have a couple on order from Wolverines.

In a semi-auto AR-15 I think the Spikes tactical T-2 should work just fine. Its my understanding its filled with some kind of weighted powder, as opposed to metal weights

While I have had a few NEA barrels come through my hands, I do not recall working with/shooting the NEA 10" barrel, so I have nothing constructive to add there.

With regards to pigment/color/paint, as long as it does not make its way inside the buffer tube, I am not sure what effect if any, it would have on performance.

Perhaps I have missed something in your question.

That's good to know. I'm not sure what port size would be in my barrel compared to yours. I haven't even run this enough to know what works best, the little I did use it I was thinking maybe it was over gassed because the cases were actually marking the deflector rather than just rubbing it under normal ejection.

No you answered it completely, and I didn't know their buffer(spikes) was filled with powder, so I guess no swapping weights between it and a standard to obtain different weights.
