Carbine or Deerfield

Carbine for me. Had 3, currently 1. Have taken two deer with it. Handy, balanced, easy to service rifle. a pleasure to shoot. Interesting piece of trivia.....the 10/22 was designed to be a companion / trainer to this rifle. Hence the very similar appearance.

The Semi dampens the recoil and the muzzle blast of a 44 is less than that of deer caliber centerfires. Will always have one in my safe for hunting in the ontario bush. I like the idea of the deerfield but I have heard it is less reliable and with all the plastic / metal I find it unattractive.

I'd dearly love to own either rifle, but the Deerfield is especially distracting. Living in S. Ontario...and not being a big-game hunter...$1K+ is simply far too much to spend on a rifle for novelty/collector value alone (in my world) but then again...my wife is convinced we need $3,100 worth of new vinyl windows to replace the wood ones simply because the paint is starting to peel. (got the quote last night, still coming to terms...lol)

Funny how every expense gets measured against the "what shooting-related item could that much money buy?" ruler.

The wife's priorities will always be greater than ours.
