Just wanted some options for carbines that take 1911 mags and shoot .45ACP. Everything seems to take Glock mags. I know they make a JR in 1911, but it's near impossible to find. I was looking at switching to the Beretta Cx4 (Beretta mags) but I'd rather not start another mag collection and the plastic internals turned me off.
I like the idea of being able to switch from carbine to pistol without changing mags.
Any thoughts?

There is the Mech Tech kit that replaces the upper of your 1911 with a carbine barrel and action but the firearm still remains restricted.
I used to own a HERA carbine kit but your pistol just slips into it and it looks kinda cool but no longer barrel and it still remains restricted.

You used to be able to get a Mec teck upper with longer barrels that fitted 1911, it keeps it restricted as it uses your pistol frame.

Also you could build a delisle carbine :)

I have been looking for the same thing. I would like a Non Restricted 1911 mag carbine. I was on a pre purchase waiting list for a 1911 mag JR Carbine for a long time, but they never were imported. I know JR was having a lot of issues with the 1911 mag version, I suspect that JR has given up on the 1911 mag version. The Marlin Camp would be my first choose if I could find one that is Non Restricted, but the cost to buy a Camp carbine and then have a custom NR barrel made, just does not make sense. Also the ugly and inexpensive Hi Point Carbine can be modified to take 1911 mags (search YouTube), but it is Restricted.
At the moment I am keeping my eyes on the EE for a nice short barrel .45acp 1911 mag Enfield.

I just got mine the other day. The Pro Mag 10 round mags will not lock in and neither will my Wilson Combat 8 round mags. My Chip McMormick 10 round and ACT 8 round mags lock in without any issue.

Now time to take it to the range to find out how the mags feed.
