carbon fiber barrels?

Anyone have real world experience with carbon fiber barrels? I see one in the EE section and was curious. I suppose you would lose a lb or so in weight but how does the barrel act? Does it need to be freefloated etc? How thick is the steel under the carbon?

I seen one in action on a VERY EXPENSIVE rifle in a hunting camp..300 magnum?? the guy put 5 shots in 1 hole at 100 yards"checking it after the airlines drop kicked the rifle case"..amazingly light wickedly accurate..
