Carcano M91

Hello everyone
I’m looking to find out a few things about this Carcano that I recently picked up that I don’t know too much about! I believe it to be an m91 in 6.5 Carcano. It is stamped Roma 1918. There are only 2 serial numbers on the gun which is on the reciever and the stock, both match. We’re the bolts of these rifles originally numbered? The stock has its cartouche present. I believe the year 1924 is stamped on it which confuses me because the numbers match but the years don’t. The bore looks as if it is new. Was this rifle ever refurbished? Also wondering what these rifles sell for! Thanks in advance!

the carcano rifle are not numbered like other weapons of his time

only on the receiver and the stock are numbered

maybe some refurb after ww1 in 1924.....

91/24 are M91 cut down to 91TS lenght between 1924 and 1927(1928 maybe? Not home i dont have access to my book) before they started new production for the 91/28

These stock cartouche are usually refurb stamb so yours would have been refurbed in 1924

Bolt sometime has serial that are almost everytime not matching or just plain no serial. Honestly id be more suspect of a matching carcano’s bolt than a mismatched one lol

Price estimate is good, thats what id pay for a standart refurb

Bolts were only numbered on very early Carcanos (1890s). The 1924 stock cartouche shows that it was repaired in 1924, I can’t make out the rest of the details but it will say where the work was done (say Rome or Terni etc.)

Not a bad example, Roma factory M91's less common then the Terni produced firearms.

Price estimates are reasonable as indicated.
