Local shop has a sporter ed 1910 Carl G M96. Bluing is in good shape, nice crisp markings. Matching with a good bore.

The muzzle was threaded, is this normal? What is the going rate for a good condition sporter? Might make an offer as it looked like a beautifully made rifle.

Would not mind restoring it if possible, are stocks common?

Any other info would be great.

The muzzle is supposed to be threaded for the issued "shredder" BFA. Knowing the value of complete rifles, I wouldn't pay more than $175 for a sporter. And it just so happens Tradex has full stock sets for $45

Better workmanship on Swede's than German; better caliber too.
Some German units are equal to/better than by fit/finish; but the wartime Man.'d units bring the average down.
I think the 6.5 x 55 has a higher Ballistic Coefficient than the 8 x 57...but I sure wouldn't state it unequivocally. There are much more knowledgeable folks on here than I.
They'll chime in most likely.
Mostly the Swede's are a better deal for what you get...rifle wise.
The draw of the 'Evil Empire' e.i Waffenampts bring more money IMO

Most sporters i see go in the $300-$500 range, depending on if it's a cut down original stock, new boyds, blueing, scope/mounts, etc.

the finish on the sweds are usually nice with deep blueing for the most part they have good bores and are very well made and are very accurate rifles. As said for a sporter in a military stock i think 175 would be a good price depending on bore condt and blueing wear and general condt of the rifle

Threaded muzzle was common but far from universal.

As to ballistic coefficient, the 6.5mm has the title with a 160-grain slug, possibly even with a 140. They WILL penetrate!

6.5x55 is one of the highest-developed cartridges there is for target shooting. Not a lot of recoil and scary accurate from a decent barrel.

I can think of few BETTER rifles. I have a pair, both 1899s, inspected by the same Inspector, one a Mauser, the other a Carl Gustaf.

Beautiful rifles!

Good to know, I might make an offer. its been sitting for a while and with the oddball (Around here) caliber Its something only a military collector would want it or know what it is, so I might be able to get a reasonable price.

Like mentioned, I was surprised to the condition. Blue was fantastic on it. They must have taken decent care of them. Shame this one was cut down, would have been a nice example.
