A) Assuming the ones designed for Beretta (as per URL) will be compatible with 686 o/u field models? Pls disregard the question - appears that those are compatible.

B) Will there be a remarkable difference observed in the performance (provided the shooter does his/her part)?

Reason for my question - I am thinking of getting a couple for use in my field model Berettas (12 and/or 20) at the range till such time I pick up a more suitable shotgun.

Thanks,

BB (www.shotgunreport.com) and myself have done a good number of patterntesting using Beretta and aftermarket chokes. There have been NO improvements in pattern by the aftermaket ones! There have been some improvements with other makes due to the poor quality and labeling of their chokes. Most if not all of the aftermarket extended chokes ad a substantial amount of weight at the end of the muzzle. This in turn makes a lively shotgun into a nose heavy slug. It can even create a dumbal effect. Not a good idea!

Best regards,
Henry;)

I bought a set of six Carlson's Extended choke tubes for my Citori, and I love them! The ability to change chokes without a wrench is handy... on my pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota last fall, I changed them in the field depending on the range at which bird were flushing.

Very nice tubes - never did pattern with stock ones, but I would expect equal (or slightly better) performance.

Like Henry said.

Any Beretta dealer can get 12 gauge Beretta extended chokes for you via Stoeger Canada ("Victory" Mobil extended chokes, "Optima" extended ( like in the 682's and 391 "Optima" Target guns) or "Optima Plus" ( like the Urika/Extrema field guns) extended, depending which choke type you have ... I believe the 686's are "Mobil" - type

Briley, Carlso, Teague, Rhino, etc. all work O.K. ... but are no advantage.
