Carrying lead slugs while waterfowling????

Would it be legal to carry a couple 12ga slugs in your pocket while waterfowling....(wich is obviously non-tox only).



The reason i ask is;

Now that I have my boat on the lake, I usually walk the last kilometer or so into my waterfowling spot to save wear and tear on the truck. I have seen all kinds of bear sign along the trail and I thought if I came up on a nice bear, I would take it. Bringing the rifle is to much of a hassle.

Good question gt... I think the law says steel shot only... a slug isn't shot.
Regardless I cannot see a C/O charging you by saying you were going to use slugs on flying ducks... but I would definitely be wearing my orange vest and hat if carrying slugs for bear :idea:

Thats a 10-4, to many crazy locals around to go with out the orange. Atleast until I get in the boat anyways. Plus its the law for bear hunting unless you are in a treestand.

Within National Wildlife Areas, the possession of lead shot is prohibited for all hunting, including the hunting of migratory birds and upland game birds. I don't think there would be a judge in the country that would not aquit you from any resulting charges so long as you weren't carrying a few birds and had a slug chambered, otherwise who's to say you weren't simply bear hunting to begin with?
