Cartridge adapter - .43 Mauser to .410?

I'd like someone who could tell me if this would work or not, and why.

I'm pretty sure I can get a company like MCA to manufacture me a cartridge adapter for my .43 Mauser (71/84 adapted to single shot) that enables it to shoot .22 rounds. It seems to me this'd be pretty useless, though. A .22 round wouldn't be very accurate out of that barrel, I wouldn't think, but why not .410? I'm sure an adapter could be made to .410 just as easily.

Of course, your shot pattern would be laughable, being pushed out the .43" barrel. But, what if you installed a screw-in choke at the muzzle?

And, this might also allow the use of saboted slugs.

Now, I want some feedback on this? I can see a couple potential drawbacks. One, the wad might deform in the barrel, therefore not pushing the pellets out. Two, if shooting saboted slugs, the sabot might not expand to barrel diameter. Three, modern .410 shotshells might be under far more pressure than old .43 Mauser rounds (although it seems that some folks do fire smokeless powder in these).

And to reply in advance to all the shocked purists: This gun was bubba'd decades before I ever touched it. I want to shoot it with off-the-shelf ammo, and this is the only way I can see how.

I'd just reload .43 Mauser cases with shot loads and go hunting, no fancy tools or presses are required and you could carry and use both the shot ammo and some heavy stuff.
