I remember way back seeing 22LR cartridge adapters that would allow you to single shot 22LR cartridges out of various centrefire 22's. I see a place in the states still makes them.

Anyone ever try one? How accurate do they shoot? How combersome is removing the spent cartridge?

Cartridge adaptors work great! However, it is cumbersome to remove the spent cartridge...you just have to carry a short pistol cleaning rod BUT be careful not to lose the "firing pin" portion of the adaptor. This is not a problem at the range but may be so in the field. As for accuracy it is superb at least in my 223. The 22 RF is dead on at 50 yards with the 223 sighted at 200. If you use CB caps it is a silent shot and dead on at about 25 yards.

There is a place in New Brunswick ??? Blue Mountain??? taht also makes them. I got my from Alaska.

Hope this helps

Yes, I saw the website from the guy in Alaska. So they will ship to Canada? That's good. I thought for $20.00 it might be some fun for shooting from my rifle in places where the noise and velocity of a full 223 cartridge wouldn't be appreciated.

Goto www.e-gunparts.com ( look under accessories) NUMRICH sells them for $16.75 in 12/.22, 12/.357, 12/.44, 12/9mm and 20/.22, 20/.357, 20/.44, 20/9mm but they are considered a barrel by Canada customs and require proper paper. I believe MCA at www.mcace.com has a Canadian distributer but somehow it doubles the cost and his may be good and custom made to the length you want but they are expensive.

At the Calgary Gunshow last October there was a booth that sold a whole bunch of adapters. .22lr in a .223, 22.250, .22 hornet and so on, but they also had things like an adapter to shoot .32 acp in a .303 british and so on.
Looked kind of cool...
If I remember the company name I will pass it on. I know that they will make custom adapter to you specs if you want...
