Howdy folks, I'm thinking about getting back into CAS after about a 10 year break. The kids are pretty self sufficient now and I have more time on my hands.

Back then I was shooting a pair of Uberti Thunderers, a Rossi Puma (all in .357) and a Chinese SXS in 12 gauge (can't remember the make of the shotgun but it was a POS)... :)

I sold my gear when I stopped competing.

10 year later and I'm doing some window shopping and prices have skyrocketed.

Just looking for some advice for shooting CAS on a budget. I reload and cast so ammo/caliber is not an issue.

Any advice would be appreciated

thanks!!

Just watch the EE for deals on good used gear. You can also check osasf.ca. Sometimes you can even find stuff for sale at matches. Get out and check out a few, bet you would find some friendly people that would let you use their gear to try a stage or two as well.

Plan your purchases wisely, the vast majority of shooters these days are going with the Uberti M73, buy one and you will never have to upgrade. Pistols go from $450- $1050 each, shop around, a good SxS can be found on CGN for about $450. The key is to be patient. Unfortunately it is difficult to get into CAS these days without dropping $4,000 on guns and leather. It still is the most fun you will ever have with you clothes on, though!
