Case cleaning

I got hold of some ultra fine sand once. It was one cut above dust. It dulled the hell out of my brass. I'm going to say that your stuff is going to do the same thing. You want to clean the gunk off the brass, not sand the brass itself. Whatever you're using, it has to be softer than the brass.

Organic media is the most popular...corn cob or walnut. There are a few of us experimenting with plastic media. I'll post some pics of my plastic stuff at various stages of cleaning sometime tomorrow.

I find more and more that I'm addicted to the plastic media...

Now deciding what kind of additives to add to it!?!

If I had a place to do it, I'd put a few pellets in 3 different glass bowls. Add a little Brasso to one. NuFinish car polish to the 2nd and both to the third. Mix em up and let them sit for a week to see what it does to the pellets. If they turn soft..or worse, melt down completely, then it's time to look elsewhere. If they remain solid, put a few tablespoons in the tumbler and it should make things even better.

I've been digging around for my camera this morning but I can't find it. I might have left it at work. I'll get the pictures up eventually. I took them over time to see how long it would take/at what stage the brass would be considered clean.
