Looking for help to identify a very old oddball rifle cartridge,
Rim dia 0.62
Rim thickness 0.06
Base Dia 0.50
Neck Dia 0.47
Case length 1.90
Bullet is a bit mangled from removal attempt but appears to be 0.44
Dimensions in inches.
I can't find anything on the web so please help.

With such a large rim diameter, it sounds like one of the cartridges chambered in double rifles.

Strange there isn't a headstamp visible.

Very similar to 4570 but not.
It would make a very nice single break action round.

ghughes: Possibly a .40-60 Winchester cartridge. Dimensions nearly matching.

.40-60 Winchester:

Rim dia: .628"
Rim thickness: .059"
Base: .503"
Neck: .425" (Only case dimension not close. Could be deformation caused by attempted bullet removal?) Case does appear slightly bulged in that area.
Case length: 1.87"
Bullet: .403" *

No real case deformity, just dirty. I'm thinking it's 4560. It's been on an ontario family farm (mine) for 60+ years in a box. So the more exotics can probably be eliminated. There's never been a gun with that chamber here foe that time either. No idea where it came from.
