I just picked up another 6.5x55. This one is a Voere 98 Mauser action. My full length resized reloaded cartridges Win. brass, for my 96 Swedish Mauser resist chambering. I first thought it may have a tight chamber and needed the shoulder bumped back a bit.
This did not fix the problem. Then I thought the cases needed to be trimmed. One of my manuals says 2.165 " Max, Trim to 2.155". I had to trim to around 2.149 . I have an old Dominion factory 6.5x55 in my cartridge collection it has what looks to be a crimped 160 gr bullet. This slides into the Voere effortlessly. The case on this crimped brass measures 2.097 to 2.094.Why would this be? Any comments on this?? Thanks

Not a problem I have come across yet I am happy to say, I am curious though as to how you solve this problem, is it poorly resized brass?

SAAMI says 6.5x55 max case length is 2.165", so it sounds like this rifle has an out of spec chamber or the Euros ran things shorter for whatever reason.

There was an attempt at standardising amongst the Scandinavian countries on a target round. It was basically a tighter tolerance chamber and was known as 6.5 Skan. No sure if this rifle is chambered in this calibre but its worth checking

The Skan is slightly longer!

I would fist make sure the brass a correctly full sized and try a case with candle soot on it to figure where it's tight, I know the diameter of the euro brass got a bigger head than the american one, about 7 or 8 thou. but I dont know if than can be an issue in your case....

In an attempt to bump the shoulder back more I took about 1or 2 thous off the shell holder. At some point I examined the edge of the neck and it looked like some shinny spots on the edge and I assumed the case was to long for the chamber Anyway, why did the old Dominion factory road measure 2.97 to 2.94?
