So this is a first.
I've had a few case head separations, but never the neck.

Its lapua brass ,6.5 CM , 5 times fired.

The case neck separated in the Frankfort rotary Wet tumbler and got itself inside of another case.

The separation isn't uniform like a case head separation but more of a jagged break

work hardened in the tumbler inside another caliber case?
Maybe, I had 7 mm in there as well. But with only .5 mm in difference, I didn't think that was possible.

And the neck is inside another 6.5 case, not a 7mm

Looks like it was torn off. Could the the case somehow been forced into the other 6.5 and then the joined cases leveraged apart just from the tumbling action? Just a WAG, never seen that before.

I'm going to pick the broken neck out of the other case, maybe it has a split neck and some how compressed itself in there?

So,
As I was in a hurry to get a renovation quote delivered, I missed a big clue, as to what caused this...lol

Somehow a piece of 22-250 brass got mixed in with my 6.5CM brass.
Another mystery, as I dont use or have 22-250..lol

That is very, very weird.
I've never had a neck separation.
Separation of the web (in the gun or FL sizing die) many times.
Every time its happened to me, it was a fairly clean break/crack that was quite straight... I think that it would be reasonable to assume that neck separation would be clean & fairly straight too.

If something like that every happened in my FA wet tumbler, then I would highly suspect that my mischievous 7 year old had something to do with it .

Ya sure is strange.
It wasn't the easiest to get the broken neck out and it was a perfect break, other than not being uniform.

So to be perfectly clear it’s not a Lapua case who’s neck has separated?
Secondly when you buy a box of 100 pcs. of Lapua brass.
Do you always receive 101 pieces?
This puts my OCD into overdrive LOL.

It was a piece of 22-250 RP .
My buddy was picking up the brass,so I suspect there was 1 pc of 22-250 , that got picked up by accident.

I've had boxs of lapua with 100 and boxs with 101.

I've had that happen a few times with Norma 7x57 brass. I've heard a couple of theories on the cause; one, not enough lube on the inside of the case neck, causing the expander ball to stretch and stress the neck. The other theory is that the inside of the case neck is too clean, causing the brass to "weld" to the bullet, again putting stress on the neck on firing.
