in other threads, cleaning and annealing seem to be covered off, and with all the care about neck sizing and consistent tension...
so what about how to treat the case neck properly
Seating a clean bullet in a clean brass has its issues in regard to consistent release
whats best, clean or dirty, lubed or powdered, ???

oh, that's another can of worms

There are shooters who load their ammo the night before the competition. Some seat the bullet halfway in and only finish the seating the day they use the ammo to prevent bullet adhesion to case.

Other people pay big bucks for bullet seating presses that can measure and record the effort needed to seat a bullet. Then they experiment with various lubes to get the most consistent seating on the premise that that consistency will transfer to the bullet departure.

There were "molly coated bullets" for sale for quite a long time

One can still find containers of graphite and birdshot used to coat the bullet or the case neck before seating

and many more other considerations
:)

Clean bullet to clean brass is metal to metal contact and the surface will affect the seating force consistency.

I apply neck lube on the proejctile before seating.

question came up after trying to pull a few bullets from reloads, some were far easier than others and some were seized in good
all with good brass and neck sizing

The guy in the video in post #4 said (very clever) he is not lubing the bullet or not cleaning the cases .... but he didn't said anything what he is prepping to the case neck ID ;)

I saw another vid from Cortina where he said his sop was to seat his loads long and then just before a match would bump them to their proper oal
explaining that would break any cold fusing

I can see where a carbon coating would be ok if nothing else was involved, like cse lube or ..

This is typical procedure of many long range shooters, whether they lube the cases or not.
I dry brush my prepped cases, and seat them long just before I shoot a match, whether or not they were tumbled.
Breaking the bimetal fusion weld can be heard and felt when reaseating cases that were seated even over night .

Eric doesn't do anything secretive in his case prep...
Yes, I know as well some people in the World airgun elite class, all of them nothing homework - no washing-lubing-weight sorting-rolling-measuring-weighting-praying or swearing, they just shooting all those X's and 250's
These people called Natural Talents.

It took Erik Cortina close to 15 years to win a World Chsmpionship. He didn't do it on talent alone , it also took a lot of trigget time and a LOT of money!
