Case of Smith and Wesson 12 Gauge Ammunition

So I recently came into possession of this from a family member. Never seen anything like it but I believe it dates from the late 1970's.

Anybody have any insights or background? Comments are appreciated.

I have no idea, but it looks like its worth something. I personally wouldn't shoot it. Hold it tight

I have not seen the 12 gauge stuff but I have had 38 and 9mm that came in similar boxes.

Looks like something good. Maybe a salemans sample or an introduction offer. To a S W guy this would be of interest I am sure. Iooks to be in pristine condition something of a collectors item I would think. Cool thanks for the look.

Early 80's is it not. Was part of the promotion of their new police model shotgun to go against the remington 870. Cannot remember the model off the top of my head
Ammo was made by others for them Foicchi?? or S&B ??? maybe
Have no clue on value but normally there is very little in vintage shotgun ammo

Unless you find a hardcore S&W collector, it's really not worth much at all.

Direct copy of the Rem 870 as patents run out. Slightly thicker steel on the receiver though, and ever so slightly heavier. I still have one.

Thanks. That sounds like it. I was not into them but am a 870 remington guy which is why I remembered it
