case stuck in barrel

I have a challenge,

I have a brass case stuck in the chamber of one of my pistol. I have tried taking a lead bullet and tapping out the case without any success. I have tried taking pliers and pulling it out without luck. I have tried using Break Free and Penetrating oil and soaking the barrel and then trying tapping out case without luck can not for the life of me figure out a way to get this case out. The barrel is in a vice for all this fun.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Would heating the barrel help?
 
Why can't you drive it out? A brass rod and a small hammer... stop tapping and start driving with as big of a rod that will fit down the bore.
 
"...a small hammer..." A plastic hammer, a brass rod and bash it on the brass rod. This is a pistol barrel and not a revolver cyclinder isn't it?
 
My solution for stuck casings.

Put chop stick down barrel into casing, an smack the gun muzzle first down in a safe direction.

That casing will be coming outta there no problem at all. Cheap bamboo leaves NO marks on the barrel, it's too soft.
 
My father-in-law had the same problem with his .270. In the end, it turned out that he had fired a few old lacquered cases, which deposited some lacquer in the chamber and eventually melted into a very effective glue. We had to pour some acetone down the barrel and leave it like that for a few days to un-stick the case enough to tap it out. Just another possibility.

Look up stuck case remover kits from the reloading die people. That's one way.

It's a fired case, right? Empty?

Brass rod, and a good whack with something relatively solid, whether that be a plastic hammer, lead block, chunk of maple, etc. No pussy footing, hit the end of the rod like you mean it. You want the shock to transfer to the case, as much as possible.
Steel rod would work, too, if suitably wrapped up in half a roll of black tape or masking tape. You want to avoid steel on steel at all costs...


I'd stay clear of bamboo and wood, as the next post may well be about how to get that out of the barrel. :)

Thank you for the suggestions. The case is empty, no bullet, no powder. I think whats happened is a bit of lead is in between the case and the chamber.

I'm going to try the freezer idea. I can assure everyone, I've his the case full out with a brass rod and hammer it hasn't budged.

Do you know if you are trying to drive a bullet or more onto the case?

If the rod is on the case, it will drive out. If there is a bullet in the barrel, it is way harder to do...

I think there is more to this story than we are being told. I also think you should quit dicking around with it and take the barrel to a gunsmith before you screw it up beyond fixing.
