Well I forgot to lube a 7.62 x 54r case the other day while resizing, & the case head separated . I tried all kinds of ways to get it out, but it wouldn't budge. I thought my only option was to send the die to RCBS to get it removed, then I had an idea that worked.

Once I had the tap screwed into the case, I just used a rod & hammer to tap the case out of the die. WARNING: If you use this method, be careful NOT to scratch your die by using too large of a tap!

Thanks for sharing that. Looks simple enough to me and you didn't have to spend any money. I'm cheap too:p

RCBS makes a kit that comes with a drill bit, tap, bushing, set screw, and allan key. Same sort of idea except you drill out just the primer pocket and tap it instead of the whole case. You then put the spacer bushing on the die and thread in the set screw witch pulls out the case. No hamering needed and less chance of damaging the die. BUT it seems your way worked to.

This way only works if you still have a case head attached . Mine suffered from case head separation, so there was nothing to attach too.
