Case trimming, How necessary is it?

I just picked up a DVD called "reloading, beyond the basics" and it explains that trimming also has a big deal with keeping the bullet true entering the barrel. If the face of the neck has uneveness to it, it allows for the bullet to leave one side of the case slightly before the other, and this results in the bullet not entering the barrel "true".
