Case trimming

You can't generalize on this question. All cases need trimming once they exceed the recomended max length. Some need every reload, some hardly ever. Depends on load, softness of brass, how the cases were sized, (neck or full) chamber size etc. That is why we measure the length. My .02.

If you are talking about rifle ammo, consistency equals accuracy. If you have a quantity of empty once fired brass, find the shortest length case of the bunch (check with caliper), and set your case trimmer for this length. trim them all to this length. It may seem like a bunch of extra work to be trimming a thou or two off all these cases, but it is one simple step on the road to accuracy. P.S.:clean primer pockets, debur flash holes, experiment with seating depths and different brands of powder, primers, and bullets.
