Casehardening a 73 winchester

It must be like a 10's year old Christmas every time you reach into the water bucket, not knowing what is going to come out!
Great job again Rex.

That looks wicked
I’ve always wanted to get one of my old model 8 Remingtons case hardened I think they would look bad @ss with that look to them

If I actually get a spring breakup, I totally am trying this.
Live on a discrete acreage, easy to perform such things.
I like playing with metal. I'm a wood butcher though.
I've got a few scrap guns to play with.
Got some pieces from the 1850's through pretty much modern.
A few Bubba'd milsurps too. Do a WW1 Mauser or Ross, just to do it.
Be neat to dial it in and do a mixed load, I'm guessing the patterns would vary a bit.
Be a neat selling point if folks wanted to know about a certain era and you had a sample to show.
Really don't need the variety...case hardening is favored more for certain eras I figure.
Still neat to see it
Thanks for posting,
I'll be flagging this for further attention.

I would be curious as to what results you will get with the already hardened actions of these rifles...when re-bluing these and the Enfield's you can get anywhere from colt style blue to black to vibrant purple, no telling for sure until you pull them from the solution. I dont think the Italian rifles so commonly sold with Color casing are hardened first.

rwnblack: Top flight work, as always. Doug Turnbull may have some serious competition for the title of best case hardening!

Thanks, it is getting better. Someday I will retire and have more time to practice a bit more. Turnbull’s colours are amazing but he earned them with lots of practice. I am always looking forward to casehardening as you never know what you will get.
