I've come across some caseless .22 Made in Canada by Daisy & Heddon, no case just a bullet with powder behind it(solid). I'll try to get some pictures posted later. Anybody else ever seen some, or use it?

Thanks

Rob

The only case less ammo shooting rifle I've even heard of was the HK prototype. Never heard of case less .22 ammo.

I bought a few rounds at a gunshow of caseless 22 at a gun show a couple of years ago. Do the ones you have come in a tube?
i think they require a gun made specifically to fire them. I don't remember what the ignition system was

I'll drag my lazy butt upstairs to my cartridges later and take a better look :)

It's a pretty sweet idea, too bad the execution wasn't as good.
I wonder if any more research has been done on caseless ammo for the military...

Quite a bit. I belive that HK has a rifle beyond the prototype stage.

The challenge is, the case does way more than just hold the powder.....its also a heat sink. Caseless rounds don't "eject heat", they transfer it all to the chamber walls.

Actually the rifle was / is called the G11. It's quite the amazing rifle. It is able to fire 3 rounds in 60 milliseconds. The 3 rounds are heading downrange before any recoil is transmitted to the shooter.

G11 was abandoned wasn't it?

Abandoned is a good term. Common thinking is when "peace" broke out over the world in the 80's, that a new weapon system wasn't necessary and deemed to costly to implement in that day and age. I'm not a 100% positive if it ever came close to production, but from what I have read, it couldn't have been far off.

I miss the Colt S.C.A.M.P. :(

The G11 is not very impressive when in auto mode, the recoil is extremely high and it fires really slow.

Becareful of what you wish for. ;)

Begins shooting at the one minute five second mark. At one minute 22 seconds, you can really see how badly he is struggling to keep the gun on target.

Truly remarkable in burst mode but if you miss you have to compensate for the recoil of being hit by a truck.

Here is a video of the burst mode.

No surprise really, the design of the gun moves the entire 50 round magazine with each shot, it looks like he is shooting a FAL. It also looks like the entire barrel moves in the first video, you can see the crown of the barrel dissapear when he is firing.

Oh well, at least the gun can carry a 150 rounds with it at all times.

EDIT: Make that a 90 round magazine, meaning 270 rounds on the gun alone.
