Just picked up a M305.The rear sight is pretty low quality.Thinking of mounting a Bushnell 3200 Elite 3x9x40 with a CASM mount.Theyre going for 130.00 and I believe their made from a solid billet of steel as opposed to aluminum. Also you mount them using the rear sight pocket as opposed to pounding out the stripper clip guide.Anyone have any experience with this mount?Looking to use this rifle for deer and bear in the fall.So far pretty pleased with the rifle just using iron sights.I believe the new CASM mounts come with a backup peep sight??Thanks for any info!New CGN member.

Corporal, thanks for writing. There are actually two versions, as noted in my signature line, of the CASM scope mount. (I will have more photos of the steel CASM this week as my first batch returns from finishing Monday/Tuesday.) The CASM in aluminum I have been selling since January of 2011. Once the Blackfeather "RS" debuts, there will be more than 700 CASM scope mounts in circulation. It is a scope mount design that requires no gunsmithing and is quick to install. If I can answer any questions about it, call me direct at 250 721 3444 any day of the week or have a look at the Engineering and Design Considerations PDF. It's fairly helpful understanding how this mount works.

Cheers,
Frank

Why did you make a steel version if the aluminum was working?

Frank do you ever have plans to make a scope mount that allows you to use the irons and a scope at the same time? I saw the mount you had with the rear peep, but my barrel is way out of index and it just wouldn't work for me. My headspace is a lovely 1.639 and the front sight sits about 7-8 degrees to the right, so there's no way in hell I could move it over to the left.

I had several customers request, all at once, the CASM mount made in steel. One of these mounts went to a Lt. Col. that served in Afghanistan, the other went to a former US Marine in Texas and the other, went to CRANE (as I was told). I made very few, but it seems, as demand warrants, I will make them, otherwise, I have been serving my customers with a product made in aluminum that has been very well received thus far. I plan to expand the CASM line further still.

No, the mounting philosophies are quite different. I will not say why on an open forum as there are too many indoctrinated opinions as to what is "better." Frankly, they both work well. Mine is just easier to install, requires no gunsmithing and it holds zero. Iron sights can be used on the Blackfeather "RS" platform at will, should you desire to run your rifle that way, but I supplant the traditional Iron Sights for several reasons, some of which you may not agree with...I think I can run my rifle well with a proven scope like a Leupold MK IV LR/T 3.5x10x and back it up with a satisfactory BUS that the CASM provides and works within 200 yards. It's personal preference mostly.

Kalmar, I cannot make any new product announcements at this writing; once the Blackfeather "RS" is inventory, I will be moving forward. Please note: all CASM scope mounts are arriving tomorrow from anodizing, then to final inspection and assembly and then into shipping, hopefully, same day. Everything else is prepped in advance... . Thank-you.

Fair enough, I'd just hoped to support your company if I knew it was somewhere in the distant future, rather than buying a Troy item.

i ordered a mount a month ago, still haven't gotten it so if m14.ca doesn't wish to hurry up this "customer" is going to be very upset. so know it might take a while to get your paws on a CASM, even after he takes the money off your visa.

Hi Dave, All mounts received from bead blasting and anodizing this morning. All mounts shipping after inspection and assembly today, latest tomorrow morning. You should receive yours by weeks end if you are just across the pond. Thank-you.

All backorders have been filled: all mounts are in shipping and I made the 3pm cut off time, so any Vancouverites will see mounts tomorrow or latest Thursday. I had 3 extra t-shirts so I added them to 2 people named Dave in BC and 1 person named Shane. For what it's worth...thanks again guys and Corporal, please note, I do have stock on the CASM scope mount now so there are no waits: when stock is available, I ship same day order received. Cheers, Frank

Please email me if you want to get tracking on any CASM scope mount that left today. To ON, I beleive CP Sm. Bus. Expedited is up to 5 business days. The receipt is over 9 feet long. I will need your postal code to find it: happy to do that. Easiest to just call or email...Cheers, Frank
