I am starting to put together a second Polytech m14.
I already have one in a sage ebr.(docter treated)
Just wondering who has tried m14.ca.. CASM RD ?
I am hoping it works good. my next project will be a m14 hunting rifle made as lights as possible.
Also, I'm still undecided on the rifle stock. I have a BOYS wood stock already just need hardware and glass bedding.
However, I do really like M14 doctor carbon fiber stock. I just can't make up my mind on which one HAHA!
Dammit I might have to buy a third M14.

might be good for a red dot, it will mount a RDS too far back for my liking, i have used the full length casm mount and it worked good if you don't mind losing your sights....

i have the full langth CASM but never tride it out it is on my new rife but the CASM RD looks more like what im after it is small handy for hunting , will be tacking out my two m14s in the moring and try the mount out but i like the new CASM RD much better! My sage fore a hevy rifle wich i will put arm 18 on I think but fore this hunting season i will use a leupold scout scope on my EBR and mini red dot on the other

The RD just seems to be way too high, requiring yet another accessory, a cheek rise, to make comfortable use of an optic.
My vote goes to an arms18. I use one with a leupold tactical prismatic and it's slick and no riser to install or muck with.
Kydex risers are not hunting friendly, the plastic makes noise. Another thing, on a hunting rig, maintaining the rear sight is critical in the field in case the optic craps out from moisture or a tumble.
For CQB and general range use the RD would probably be great.

I have a Browning BLR stainless 450 Marlin with Leupold scout scope almost brand-new about 40 or 50 rounds through it!
Would be willing to do some trading for M 14 stuf I paid almost 1400 four the scout set up. haha like a arms 18 and one of you stocks lol

Hmmm BLR in 450 marlin?
I'll ponder that and let you know hehehe
I'm always into horse tradin on the stocks and services :D

I have found using the arms style mount and scope is that you have to use high rings to clear the sights, so your gonna need a cheek riser anyways, but i have found using the arms mount and a low mounting reddot is perfect...I ran a strikefire and arms/promag mount and making 300 yards shots was easy and the cheek weld perfect....

There is a common modification for accomodating a "standard" scope with mounts designed to be as low as an arms18, without using high rings. This modification involves shaving down the top of the rear sight aperture, enough to just clear the rear of the scope with the aperture bottomed out.
With this mod, I have been able to use an arms 18 with medium rings and a bushnell 3200 3-9x40 or similar sized/shaped optic, no cheek riser, usgi fiberglass stock.
