Hi All,

I have a WTB post in the Parts and Accessories forum, but I'd like to post a query about how to make one for myself here.

The other posting says that I've gotten two #49 drills, which are a PERFECT fit.

I've turned them (on my Unimat) to the right length.

Then, I tried my best to add the small 'detent' for the spring.

That was a hack-job... The jaws on my Unimat don't hold the part perfectly on-axis, so it took a lot of effort to get even a 'passable' job.

When I tried to install them, both bent where I had cut the detent.

Any thoughts about where to get better drill rod stock?
Any thoughts on how to tune up a Unimat?

Any thoughts about not putting a detent in?
The spring is damaged, so I spun it around and now it is REALLY tight.
Maybe I don't need the detent!

The spring might have made the drill rod catch on the spring-access-hole. I'll have to check for burrs before I put it back together.

I'll go to the supply store in the next couple days to re-stock and then just turn a straight drill to length and try again to insert it.

Thank you!!

Sean
