Oh well, you know me. The bottem line from my prospective is in some applications, the use of a filler has proven to be beneficial.
My first experience using a filler medium came years ago after reading an article on it, in the Handloader I think. Anyway, it involved a light charge of Bullseye using a cotton tuft filler with a HBWC, loaded in .357 Magnum cases. With a few tests I tried at the time for comparison, it definately seemed to make a positive difference. I have a target I shot offhand using that 'mixture' in my 6" Python :D that is part of the decor under the plexiglas on the top of my reloading bench. It's probably the best ten shot offhand group I've ever shot with any handgun. I'll show you the next time you're around.
I'm not really an advocate of light 'plinking' type loads, especially in say big bore rifles but I did 'try' a few light cast loads in my .444 & .45-70 Marlins. Again, the results were better and especially more consistent when using a filler. What can I say, other than it works for me!!:)
