Looking for a cast bullet supplier who makes the hard cast GC stuff for 45/70; 350 gr and up. I know of Bullet Barn and hear nothing bad about them, but if their stuff doesn't shoot then I will need to try the "other guys".

There are US suppliers, but not many ship to Canada and the ones that do are brutally expensive! Who in Canada can fill the bill?

Cast lead .45/70 bullets

Google Oma Products Ltd......100 Mile House, B.C...they have quite an extensive line of cast lead....

Ben Hunchak on this forum. Service is great, prices very reasonable and Ben is an encyclopedia of cast bullet knowledge. PM him and see what he can do for you.

When looking for cast bullets for the .45/70, I would suggest you match the bullet hardness to the type of load you will be making....for low velocity or Black Powder and using the same loads for hunting a soft 30-1 bullet would work best and provide the best accuracy. If you increase the velocity past 1500fps, you should select a harder alloy for better penetration, however it has been proven that too hard a bullet will not expand but fracture instead. Hard bullets of BHN 25 or so will be too hard to use on game and max. hardness that allows some expansion is around BHN 19 or so.
