Is this and old gun or a modern reproduction? How do you know the barrels are cast? Is a there spiral Damascus patern on the barrel or any proof marks on the barrel?
Under no circumstnaces fire anything rounds through it until you get it checked out. If it's and older gun, modern ammo will could possibly destroy the gun and kill you in the process. Blackpowder gun will not handle the pressure generated by moderm ammo.

Many of the "transition" guns back in Grandpappy's day are hard to tell. Some are embossed with a Damascus pattern when they really are fluid steel, others are Damascus made to look like fluid. Get it checked.
On the underside of the rib is P 5428 then an N in a circle 16
On the upper surface of the rib CAST STEEL
On the underside of the barrels, each has a squigely looking proof(EL overlapping?) 18.2 another one of the weird proofs, a star over AC, an arrow? 12 over c in a diamond and the crown over ELG in an oval.
On one side of the lock, Neumann Bros. on the other side MACHINE MADE.
That's about all the info I can give you guys.

GOTO www.littlegun.be/arme belge/artisans identifies m o/a neumann gb.htm you will find a history on the NEUMANN BROTHERS. Also do a search of " BELGIUM PROOF MARKS" There is a good site from BLUEBOOK INC. which could tell you if your gun is proofed for smokeless. BUT , IF it is , you still have to have the chamber checked to see if it is chambered for 2 3/4 in. shells. This does not mean IF a 2 3/4 in shell will fit which it probably will, it means will the crimp be able to open without raising pressures. The chambers can be reamed out quite easily for the 2 3/4 in. It appears to be BLACK POWDER PROOFED by the CROWN over the OVAL with ELG inside.
