Anyone casting 225 for their AR or other semi auto. Just wondering what mold. How well do they feed and what kind of accuracy.
I tried the GC bator mold. It didn't feed worth a s#### and accuracy was marginal.

quote from above
I was able to put 500 rounds of cast bullets through an AR-15 without cleaning it and did not have any problems or malfunctions at all. The test showed (to me at least), that AR-15's can be made to work consistently with cast bullets. In regard to accuracy, I didn't see any significant change in accuracy, but I wasn't really testing for it.
A 1/12 twist barrel is a must have to get higher velocity
Barrel twist and speed =RPM and if you have too much rpm accuracy will suffer
Might have to load on a single stage and use a dacron filler depending on powder / bullet combo
Yes I have done it and yes it can be done. I used an nei mold with gas check. Used the oven method for hardening the bullets. That said I found that working with the smaller projectiles a real pain. The bullet has a flat base which is much more difficult to seat then a boat tail. It gets old fast and 224 jacketed are relatively cheap. I used in an AR 180B and was able to get it to cycle.
