Can I fire these from a SW 17 revolver?

How about single shot from Norinco M93 or Ruger 10/22?

Does a .22 CB short have enough power for a racoon headshot at 20 feet?

yes

yes

and yes

or just buy CB longs, same price, no chamber fouling. I shoot them in my backyard out of my 17 they are deadly accurate.

CB stands for conical bullet.

Generally a 29 grain LRN loaded with very little powder into either a short or long case.

Low velocity, subsonic round. When fired from a rifle they are very quiet, perfect for pest control.

Use only in a safe shooting environment with a safe backdrop.

I like the CB long , it's safe to shot in my yard but I dont whant to disturb. Remington subsonic ares the same thing I think. Anybody ever try both to compare , witch one is the more quiet ? I shoot thems in a bolt action but can they feed a semi properly ?

I know people that have killed varmit like racoons from 50 feet with CB's. I dont't know if you can kill them from further than that but its all about bullet placement..

I buy them at the local CT and Wlmart, the local gun shop finally got them in.
I have kiiled coons at 10 feet with them, but I would rather use a high velocity round for coons.

I also shot a pigeon at 50 yds with one, he wasn't very happy about it but he came back anyway.
They are kinda neat as you can actually see the bullet when shooting against a bright background such as snow.

What are .22 CB's?

From CCI's website:
CBs are reduced-power cartridges for low-noise pest control or practice. Both are loaded to the same velocity; the CB Long makes loading in some firearms easier.
22 Short CB part #0026
22 CB Long part #0038
Not designed to cycle semi-auto firearms.
29 Grain. 710 fps.

I tried some CB Long's yesterday in my R22, what a strange experience. Click ... hole appears in target ... no ejection ... very stealthy :)

Of course it does get kind of tiresome cycling the action manually all the time. (Yes I know it wont cycle a semi but thats all I have)

I zero'd my long barreled Marlin 81DL woth CB longs.

It's so quiet, I don't need hearing protection. Very accurate at 25 yards off a rest. Easily do head shots on a marauding racoon.

22 shorts

When I was a kid I got to go moose hunting every year in Northern Saskatchewan with my Dad and Uncle, and we met a metis family who were very enjoyable company around camp. I was amazed to learn that the two elders used single shot 22's for their moose!!!

What was more amazing was when I learned that they used 22 shorts! When I asked Lloyd (the older brother) why 22 shorts, he replied "cuz 22 longs is too expensive".

I can't imagine what he might think of the cannons used in the bush nowadays!

I shot a few CCI CB Longs with my Cooey 600, same thing. *click*... misfire? Nope, there's a hole!

It was 25 below at the time, so I wasn't inclined to finish the box. I'll try a few out in my S&W mod. 17 when I get it though!
