CBC expert on guns

The "double barrel" 30-06 is a Sako BA .............If they weren't Native hunters I'm sure CBC would have been singing a different tune dragging in David Suzuki to lecture us on global warming and the endangered polar bears.CBC couldn't get their facts straight reporting a dog crapping on a sidewalk.

Far from me to actually defend anything about the CBC...but the photo clearly shows a Baikal SxS double rifle in .30-06 alongside the bolt gun.

The headline is misleading... he had a double discharge and got two bears with one shot each, not two bears with one shot. Double rifle is in the top right corner of the photo, and the Sako is likely the son's rifle.

I doubt that he had a double discharge and killed two bears at the same time. They are huge apex predators and while a 30-06 isn't a small rifle and totally can kill a polar bear, there's often more to every story.

Taking such offence to a headline is nonsense. CBC has a very few scattered reporters in the far north. I'm just glad they report any news from there at all. And in the rural area where I live, it is very common for people who are not firearm enthusiasts refer to all centerfire rifles as "high power" - I suppose as opposed to a low powered rimfire. Kinda like calling cartridges bullets. Incorrect, but common terminology. I thought the report was interesting and quite supportive of the hunters. I shared it with my family and friends.
