LOL! you mean the "progressive" conservative O'tooles? am I remembering this right? I recall just how well the "Progressive" conservatives helped gun owners back in '91. My goodness, it's as fresh as yesterday's blindside hit will be in 30 years. The "progressive" conservatives gave us C-17. Let's do a refresher on the "progressive" conservatives shall we?
Bill C-17 was introduced and passed in 1991 by the Kim Campbell
Progressive Conservatives. It created expanded powers for the minister of justice
to restrict any firearm and prohibit those not "commonly used in Canada
for hunting or sporting purposes". Other sections included new powers
for police to search the homes of certain types of "gun collectors", and
placed limits on magazine sizes (10 rounds for semi-auto pistols and 5
for centre-fire semi-auto rifles and shotguns, but there are a few exceptions).
Some of C-17 is illegal, much is unnecessary, and some of the OICs
(Orders in Council) have been thrown out.
I doubt any of yesterday's OIC will be thrown out, and I'll be buying solid gold toilets before an O'toole does absolutely anything to help gun owners. Seriously, does nobody remember what the early 90's were like??
