Local store that I shop at has had no regular large rifle primers in stock (#200). Anyone use the #2BR primers? Do I understand correctly that they are basically the same primers (but more expensive)?

I am going to be starting to develop a load anyway and will be starting from minimum charges and the primers in the book (Nosler) are a different brand from either of these anyway.

Thoughts?

I switch back and forth between these two primers depending on what I can get my hands on never had an issue. It was explained to me the the BR2's are the first 10000-20000 primers off the line when they replace the dies and such that make the primers, the #200's are the ones that come off the line after the dies and such used in the making of primers are wearing a bit.

And if you shoot semi the BR2 and BR4 have a harder cup less prone to slam fire + the uniformity, myself use BR2 and BR4 in all of my reloads and, i will only use another brand if i am short but it is not gonna happen for the next couple of year ( stocked 5000 of each )... JP.

The OP is wondering about a difference in pressure between the two types of primers he mentions.
My answer is that us human beans will never see, or notice, any difference in pressure between any brand of large rifle primer and another brand.
For my own loading I even place large rifle magnum primers in the same catagory. That is, I use the same powder charge whether I use magnum, or standard primers. If there is any difference in pressure, I have never detected it.
