Many many years ago I had a chance to shoot an ERMA .22LR that looked like an M1 Carbine. It came from France and had a common European accessory, namely a sound suppressor. (The Customs inspector actually asked the owner if the little tube was a suppressor. Yes was the answer. Ok was the reply.)
I tested every size and type of .22 available - for the science of it you understand. The only problem was getting some of the smallest rounds to feed. These same rounds had the least force to move the bolt back. They were also the least accurate beyond about 20 yds.
