Anybody used this? I picked up a couple boxes at Al's today to run through my Norcolt (cheap - $17 a box), but after looking at it, I think its going back. The first three I looked at all had significantly different OALs :eek: Scanning across the bottoms in the tray box, too many are somewhat shorter than the rest. :mad: Looks like really shoddy crimping or awfully rough handling in shipment. I can pull up the bullets, but frankly I no longer have confidence in the loads... I'm new to .45 - is this normal or just lousy work...?

I went to pick up a factory sizing die for 45acp today because i just started reloading 45acp and some of the bullets were pushing back into the case. The roll crimp in the seating die is useless.

anyway the guy behind the counter at wholesale sports asked what i was shooting 45 in. I said a norinco 1911, he has a norinco as well and said he has already made a habit of shooting his buddies SWC ammo that wont feed or has the bullets pushed back in his buddies kimber.

so basically the norinco will eat anything do dont worry about that, in terms of consistency i would not have faith in this ammo you purchased. I wouldnt worry about shooting it for some plinking though
 
Shooting ammunition with bullets pushed in or seated under OAL spec is nuts . You're asking for a ka-boom and don't sound bright enough to know it . A Norinco may eat everything you've tried so far but it's only a matter of time . Most reloading manuals explain things like pressure .
 
if oal differs by say a 1mm go shoot, if the bullet is backed way into the case to the point where it is up against the charge then ok, you're right don't shoot it.
 
If ammunition is being fired that has already been tried in a Kimber resulting in the bullets being pushed back in the case , it's asking for trouble . OAL isn't measured by eyeballing millimeters .

You don't roll crimp 45, you taper crimp it. The case headspaces on the mouth, not the rim, as is true with most straight sided rimless autoloading ammo. Look in the chamber, you'll see the ledge the case mouth spaces against.

FWIW I returned the CCI and picked up some AmEagle (no Winchester in the store. Yes I will reload my own when I get my dies and a stock of brass built up...:) )
 
I bought a bunch as well here and during an IDPA match had 3 rounds push back as well. Found a few more as well by pushing them in by hand. I fired all the rest no problem though. For the most part though, I have found the Blazer brass a good round and I love the cases for reloading as they seem quite heavily built compared to the federal cases I also have.
 
Isn't the CCI BLAZER centerfire ammo , berdan primed and aluminum cases. If that is correct then, the aluminum case probably doesn't have the elasticity of the brass cases and this may be why some people are having crimp problems.
